 REGISTRATION
Spring 2026 Season

REGISTRATION FOR THE SPRING '26 SEASON OPENS Tuesday, February 24th!

Please email secretary@hinghamhighcrew.com to be added to our newsletter and kept in the loop!

We strongly recommend using a desktop or laptop to complete registration.

Please follow the instructions below carefully.

Please read...

THE REGISTRATION PROCESS

Our sport has SIX steps necessary to complete registration. Each step is audited as a condition to participate in crew. So... if your athlete is not completely registered, it will create delays.

Please help our registration admin by reading carefully and not skipping steps. If you're unsure about something, and have not found the answer below, please email the admin at registration@hinghamhighcrew.com as we'd like to get our 100+ athletes practicing as soon as possible. Athletes that do not have all their paperwork in cannot participate – no exceptions. Athletes pulled from practice due to incomplete registrations impact their entire boat by keeping others on land when they could be out practicing on the water. Thank you for your help getting our entire team out on the water as soon as possible! We greatly appreciate it!

* Uniforms are required for racing.

The deadline to order our racing uniform has passed.

If you are new to the team or wish to order other team gear, please click HERE for more information.

STEP 1:  REGISTER AND PAY WITH HINGHAM HIGH CREW

Please use the red button below to be taken to our registration. Please do not send any money directly to Hingham High School - you do not pay the school user fees for crew. The fee per athlete for the Spring 2026 Season is $1300, paid directly to HHSRA. Payment plans are explained on the registration site.

A note on Registration:

In the Participant section of Registration, please make sure to put the rower's email so that they too will get important team emails. There is a separate section for Parent/Guardian information.

IMPORTANT:

HHSRA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and receives no funding from Hingham Public Schools. Our program runs on two things: fundraising and parent volunteers. Your involvement isn’t extra — it’s essential. When families step up, our athletes get on the water safely and competitively.

Each family is expected to support the team in one of the following areas:

Hospitality Team — Help fuel our rowers at regattas and team events. This includes supporting food service at all-day races (setup, serving, cleanup), restocking the hospitality trailer, and assisting with the end-of-season banquet. It’s a hands-on way to support 100+ athletes and connect with other crew families.

Fundraising / Sponsorship — Help us reach our annual fundraising goals through events, sponsorship outreach, and community partnerships. Because we receive no school funding, we raise the funds needed each year to maintain and upgrade equipment, support coaching staff, and keep the program strong.

Trailer & Maintenance Team — Support the safe transport and upkeep of our equipment. This includes hauling launches and trailers to regattas and practice sites, and helping maintain our fleet of shells, ergs, and launches. No prior experience required — we’ll show you what you need to know. If you have a vehicle with a trailer hitch or are willing to learn to tow, we’d especially love to hear from you: please email president@hinghamhighcrew.com!

STEP 2:  REGISTER WITH HINGHAM HIGH SCHOOL

This step lets the Hingham High School Athletic Department know that your athlete is participating in crew. The HHS Athletics Department is very aware of who has registered on their system for crew; they have and will pull your athlete from training if this step is not complete.

If you need assistance with the Aspen/X2 portal, please contact Maryellen Holler at mholler@hinghamschools.org.

Remember: Every crew member must be registered with HHS, and CANNOT ROW if they are not.

STEP 3:  JOIN (or RENEW) USROWING & SIGN WAIVER

All athletes must have a current USRowing Basic Membership in order to practice and compete. This membership provides the insurance coverage required for regattas. Without an active membership and signed waiver, your athlete is not permitted to row.

The Basic Membership fee is $25 per year and runs annually from the date of enrollment (not by season).

Before registering, please check your athlete’s status and expiration date. Many athletes simply need to renew to remain current for the full season.

Please do ONE of the following:

If Your Athlete Is New to USRowing (Join):

  1. Visit the USRowing website (link below).

  2. Click "Join" (top left corner).

  3. In box labeled Individual, select "Register"

  4. Enter your athlete’s information (membership must be in the rower’s name, not the parent’s).

  5. For Club/Team Name, enter: Hingham High School Rowing Association

  6. Complete the required questions and sign the waiver.

  7. Enter payment and future auto-renewal option information, then click Submit.

Total cost should be $25 for Basic Membership.

If Your Athlete Is Returning (Renew)*:

  1. Visit the USRowing website (link below).

  2. Log in to your athlete’s account (top left).

  3. In box labeled Individual, select "Log In"

  4. Confirm membership status and expiration date.

  5. Renew membership and complete the current waiver, if prompted.

  6. Enter payment and future auto-renewal option information, then click "Submit"

       Renewal cost should be $25.

*Please double-check that your athlete’s membership will remain active through the end of the rowing season.

STEP 4:  PROVIDE CURRENT PHYSICAL TO HHS ATHLETIC DEPT

Your athlete's physical exam must be up to date, which is within the last 13 months. If it expires during the season, you must update it and provide a copy to the HHS Athletics Office by March 6th. You can drop it off at the Main Office in an envelope addressed to the Athletics Office. *Please double-check this is current; expired or missing physicals are the most common reason athletes are held out of practice.

STEP 5:  TAKE AN IMPACT TEST

Freshmen, Juniors, and New Students to HHS Only

are required to complete school-administered ImPACT testing (baseline concussion test). Testing is required once every two years.

If you completed ImPACT testing this past fall, your requirement is fulfilled. No further action is needed.

If you have not yet completed your ImPACT/concussion test, please contact Maryellen Holler directly at mholler@hinghamschools.org.

Rowers who do not register with the school and/or provide a current physical and ImPACT test will not be permitted to attend practice until these items are completed.

STEP 6:  TAKE A SWIM TEST

Athletes NEW to the team, or anyone who has not taken a swim test since joining the team.

Athletes new to the team — or anyone who has not previously completed a swim test with HHSRA — must pass a swim test before participating in on-water practices.

There are no group swim test dates scheduled at this time. Families should contact one of the following facilities directly to arrange a test with a certified lifeguard:

  • Hanover YMCA

  • Quincy YMCA

  • Weymouth Club

  • Or another facility with a certified lifeguard able to administer the test

Please review the swim test form below carefully in advance to ensure your athlete brings the required clothing.  Once the test is complete, submit the signed form to your athlete’s coach or email a clear photo to registration@hinghamhighcrew.com.

*Note: Athletes who are fully registered and simply awaiting completion of the swim test may continue to participate in land practices only until the requirement is met.

 REGISTRATION POLICY INFORMATION
Fees, Registration Limits, Refunds, Financial Aid

Rowing Participation Fee:  The participation fee covers core operating expenses, including coaches’ salaries, regatta entry fees, launch fuel, and transportation of boats and athletes. Hingham Public Schools provides limited support for bus transportation only. All equipment — shells, launches, ergs, and related gear — is funded through team fundraising efforts.

Financial aid is available for families with demonstrated need (see below).

Registration Limits:  Team size is determined by available equipment, coaching capacity, and safety guidelines. Hingham High Crew makes every effort to include all interested athletes whenever possible.

Due to growing interest, both the boys’ and girls’ teams will have roster caps this season. Families are encouraged to register early. Once capacity is reached, a waitlist will be established.

Refunds:  Consistent with Hingham High School athletic programs, registration fees are non-refundable once payment has been submitted. No exceptions.

Registration Protection:

Our registration platform offers optional Registration Cancellation Protection, which may reimburse up to 100% of the fee if an athlete must withdraw for a covered reason. This coverage must be selected at the time of registration. Click HERE to learn more about this insurance option.

All questions regarding coverage or claims must be directed to the insurance provider.

Financial Aid:

Hingham High Crew is committed to ensuring that no athlete is excluded for financial reasons. Scholarships are awarded seasonally based on demonstrated need and available funds.

Families participating in the free or reduced lunch program are eligible to apply. We do not require detailed financial documentation, but a brief explanation of need is requested, as scholarship funds are limited.
