 REGISTRATION
Fall 2025 Season

REGISTRATION FOR THE FALL '25 SEASON OPENS Monday, July 28th!

Please email registration@hinghamhighcrew.com to be added to our newsletter and kept in the loop!

We strongly recommend using a desktop or laptop to complete registration.

Please follow the instructions below carefully.

Please read...

THE REGISTRATION PROCESS

Our sport has SIX steps necessary to complete registration. Each step is audited as a condition to participate in crew. So... if your athlete is not completely registered, it will create delays.

Please help our registration admin by reading carefully and not skipping steps. If you're unsure about something, and have not found the answer below, please email the admin at registration@hinghamhighcrew.com as we'd like to get our 100+ athletes practicing as soon as possible. Athletes that do not have all their paperwork in cannot participate – no exceptions. Athletes pulled from practice due to incomplete registrations impact their entire boat by keeping others on land when they could be out practicing on the water. Thank you for your help getting our entire team out on the water as soon as possible! We greatly appreciate it!

* Uniforms are required for racing.

The deadline to order uniforms is August 7th!  Click HERE for more information and to place your order.

STEP 1:  REGISTER AND PAY WITH HINGHAM HIGH CREW

Please use the red button below to be taken to our registration. Please do not send any money directly to Hingham High School - you do not pay the school user fees for crew. The fee per athlete for the Fall 2025 Season is $1250, paid directly to HHSRA. Payment plans are explained on the registration site.

A note on Registration:

In the Participant section of Registration, please make sure to put the rower's email so that they too will get important team emails. There is a separate section for Parent/Guardian information.

IMPORTANT: There is a question on registration about Parent Volunteering – an element which is critical to the success and survival of our team. As a reminder, HHSRA operates as a 501(c)3 program receiving no financial support from Hingham Public Schools. Instead, our program relies entirely on parent volunteers and fundraising efforts. Your involvement is critical to keep the team afloat; without volunteers, we are not able to operate the program. Volunteering is also a great way to meet our wonderful community! There are three areas where we need help this season:

Hospitality Team — Fuel our rowers! Help feed our athletes during all-day regattas: 100+ rowers x 2 meals = a lot of help needed serving up over 200+ meals! We ask volunteers to sign up for one full day regatta each season from setup, serving, to cleanup (10 volunteers needed per event). We also need help with weekly shopping, trailer restocking, and planning the end-of-season banquet. Each family is encouraged to volunteer at least once per season — it's a great way to support the team and meet other parents!

Fundraising / Sponsorship — As a volunteer you would be helping organize and run events to help us secure funding. We do not receive funding from HHS, so need to raise around $100,000 each year to repair and upgrade equipment, provide extra coaching staff as the team grows, etc. This volunteer opportunity also involves helping with spring/summer fundraisers and adding sponsors.

Trailer Team — Each season, the team needs help hauling coaches launches (power boats) to HMC and the Light Plant, and with hauling the hospitality trailer to and from regattas. All you need is a vehicle with a trailer hitch!  We are also actively looking for a parent to haul our racing shell trailer to and from regattas, as our current drivers will be graduating out this year! If you are interested in learning more about towing the shell trailer, please email president@hinghamhighcrew.com

Equipment Maintenance Team — HHSRA has a large fleet of ergs, shells, launches... you name it! Help us keep it all in top shape to maximize our rowers' time on the water and on the best possible equipment at the Light Plant. It's a hands-on way to support the team and learn more about the equipment we rely on to run a successful program! And if you're not sure how to do something, we will be happy to teach you!

STEP 2:  REGISTER WITH HINGHAM HIGH SCHOOL

This step lets the Hingham High School Athletic Department know that your athlete is participating in crew. The HHS Athletics Department is very aware of who has registered on their system for crew; they have and will pull your athlete from training if this step is not complete.

Remember: Every crew member must be registered with HHS, and CANNOT ROW if they are not.

STEP 3:  JOIN (or RENEW) USROWING & SIGN WAIVER

Please read the following carefully as the USRowing website can be confusing. If your athlete is already a USRowing member, please check their expiration date and renew if necessary.

USRowing provides insurance for our athletes. To activate the insurance, all rowers are required to join USRowing's Basic Membership and sign the waiver. The basic membership fee is $25. This is the insurance that covers your rower at regattas. Without this in place, your athlete cannot row.

The USRowing membership is on an annual basis from the date you first sign up. If your athlete has joined in the past, their membership may have to be renewed to cover the entire rowing season. *Please double-check that your athlete is current.* You can use their membership number or email address to search by their name.

Please do ONE of the following:

To Join:

  1. Click the link at the bottom of this section to the USRowing website.

  2. In the top left corner, click on "Join."

  3. In the box labeled Individual, click on "Register."

  4. Enter your athlete's information. This insurance is to cover the rower, not the parent.

  5. For Club or Team Name, please enter "Hingham High School Rowing Association."

  6. Click Search and follow the prompts, setting up an account for your rower.

  7. Answer the questions, making sure to sign the waiver.

  8. Enter payment and future auto-renewal option information, then click Submit.

  9. Note: The payment for a Basic Membership is $25. You should only be paying $25.

To Renew:

  1. Click the link at the bottom of this section to the USRowing website.

  2. In the top left, click on "Log in."

  3. In the Individuals box, select "Log in" and follow the prompts.

  4. In your profile, renew membership and sign a current waiver, if needed.

  5. Enter payment and auto-renew information, then click Submit.

  6. The payment should be $25.

STEP 4:  PROVIDE CURRENT PHYSICAL TO HHS ATHLETIC DEPT

Your athlete's physical exam must be up to date, which is within the last 13 months. If it expires during the season, you must update it and provide a copy to the HHS Athletics Office by March 6th. You can drop it off at the Main Office in an envelope addressed to the Athletics Office. *Please double-check this is current; expired or missing physicals are the most common reason athletes are held out of practice.

STEP 5:  TAKE AN IMPACT TEST

Freshmen, Juniors, and New Students to HHS Only are required to take an ImPACT test given by the school. (ImPACT testing only needs to occur once every two years.) This will be given in the Language Lab at HHS on the following dates. Please make sure you attend one of these dates:

Thursday, July 24th @ 4:00–6:00 pm

Tuesday, August 5th @ 8:00–10:00 am

If you have questions about the ImPACT/concussion test, please email Maryellen Holler at mholler@hinghamschools.org.

Rowers who do not register with the school and/or provide a current physical and ImPACT test will not be permitted to attend practice until these items are completed.

STEP 6:  TAKE A SWIM TEST

Athletes NEW to the team, or anyone who has not taken a swim test since joining the team. In order to participate in practices on the water, you will need to complete a swim test. Please read the form linked below carefully to ensure you have the necessary clothing for the test. For your convenience, HHSRA has scheduled a group swim test at the Hanover YMCA; see details below. Please note: Hanover YMCA will only accommodate swim tests on the group test date, but you can also try the Weymouth Club, South Shore Country Club or anywhere else there is a certified lifeguard. Once completed, please bring the form to your coach at practice or take a clear photo of it and email it to registration@hinghamhighcrew.com.

*Note: If all five items above are complete and your athlete is just waiting to take their Swim Test, they may still participate in practices on land.

 REGISTRATION POLICY INFORMATION
Fees, Registration Limits, Refunds, Financial Aid

Rowing Participation Fee:  Our fees cover only our operation costs, including coaches' salaries, regatta fees, gas for coaches' launches, and travel expenses for boats and rowers. We receive some funding from the school for bus transportation. All equipment is purchased through fundraising efforts of the team. We offer financial aid for those in demonstrated need (see below for more information).

Registration Limits:  Team size is determined by our equipment, coaching resources, and safety considerations. Hingham High Crew strives to accommodate all interested rowers and, whenever possible, will not cut athletes from the program. Given the increased interest in the program, we are capping the boys' and girls' teams this season. Please register as soon as possible. If we reach capacity, we will have a waitlist for both teams.

Refunds:  As with all athletic teams at Hingham High School, there are no refunds after registration payment has been made. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Registration Protection: Our registration vendor offers Registration Cancellation Protection, which will cover up to 100% of your athlete's registration fee if he/she is unexpectedly forced to withdraw for a covered reason. You may purchase this coverage only at the time of registration. Click HERE to learn more about this insurance option. HHSRA must refer all inquiries to the insurance provider.

Financial Aid:  It is the policy of Hingham High Crew not to exclude anyone due to financial reasons. Financial Scholarship is reviewed and is rewarded on a seasonal basis based upon demonstrated need.* Please email president@hinghamhighcrew.com for more information.

*Demonstrated Need: Any rower participating in the free or reduced lunch program is a candidate for a scholarship. We do not ask for financial information, but do ask for justification as we have a limited number of scholarships.
