INTRODUCING OUR COACHES

We are thrilled to have seven coaches working with our athletes this Fall season! Here is a little bit about each member of our coaching staff:

BOYS' CREW

John O’Neill One of two new coaches we are happy to introduce, John comes to us from Mass Maritime Academy where he was the Women's Head Coach. Along with collegiate rowing and coaching experience, John is currently enrolled in the prestigious Institute of Rowing Leadership Fellowship offered through Cambridge Rowing Inc. Austin Letorney Austin comes to us as a graduate form Hobart and William Smith College, where he was a two year Captain leading the crew to a Gold Medal in the varsity eight at the NIRC Championships among a number of other academic and competitive achievements. At the national level, Austin finished ninth in the men's four at the 2017 World Rowing Under 23 Championships. And yes, Austin is the same kid that led Hingham High Crew to consecutive MPSRA State Championships as a senior. GIRLS' CREW

Patrick Houle Returning for another year, Pat has been instrumental in building a fantastic girls team for HHSRA. He rowed for University of Rhode Island and was Head Varsity Girls Coach for Glastonbury High School Crew before joining Hingham. We all look forward to working with him this year. Hayes Shea A 10-year veteran of HHSRA and former Executive Director of HMC, Hayes’ experience, skills, and winning leadership style is well known. She will be a huge asset to the girls program. Jeanne Bartkiewicz As the former Head Coach of River City Rowing in Sacramento, CA, Jeanne regularly competed against high performing west coast clubs, and knows what it takes to compete against the best in the country. The former HHSRA Head Girls Coach will be returning on a part-time basis to help get our Novices off to a great start. Sue Chapin, Land Coach Back by popular demand, Sue Chapin has agreed to return this season to support the young men and women of HHS Crew. Sue has been a favorite of the both kids and parents of the team. Her focus this season will be running land workouts for both teams and in addition to that she will be continuing her Level 2 professional development coaching program to become a coach on the water as well.
